You’ll actively contribute to designing, building, and optimizing cloud infrastructure solutions that make our platform more scalable, cost effective, performant, as it adapts to fast growing traffic volumes and complex models across Apple's global ecosystem.

Description

As the Core Infrastructure Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of highly-skilled cloud infrastructure engineers building the backbone for Apple’s machine learning-powered search systems. You’ll lead the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of a team responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining highly sustainable cloud-based infrastructures. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including domain engineers, backend infra engineers, SRE engineers, and product leaders, to deliver innovative, robust, and efficient solutions that support Apple’s vision of intelligent search across its ecosystem of products. You’ll be responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative environment while ensuring the team is aligned with the broader technical vision and business goals. Your team will focus on designing and optimizing cloud infrastructure to handle massive amounts of data and traffic, while maintaining reliability and scalability at every level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in cloud infrastructure engineering or a related field
  • Experience managing and growing engineering teams, providing mentorship, career development, and technical guidance
  • Strong background in computer science and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Apple Clouds, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Strong background in distributed systems, linux etc.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills with an ability to dive deep into architectural challenges when needed
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term project execution and team priorities
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with search infrastructure or machine learning infrastructure is a plus
  • Experience with cluster management and optimization is a plus

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
