Internship Digitalization Production - Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (f/m/x)

Posted June 6

ARE YOU READY FOR THE 4TH REVOLUTION?

SHARE YOUR PASSION.

Digitalisation, robotics, artificial intelligence – not science fiction but our daily business. Everything seems impossible until it has been done. World-leading technologies don’t make it into a BMW until they’ve undergone one of the most challenging journeys imaginable. It takes dynamic teams with outstanding technical skills to take them from the drawing board to the road. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

Our team is responsible for and develops an innovative AI platform for quality assurance for automotive production at our national and international plants. In doing so, we rely on a comprehensive framework of hardware and software as well as in-house AI developments. As a student at the BMW Group, you can expect a diverse and interesting range of tasks with the opportunity to independently develop solutions.

The start date of the internship can be arranged flexibly.

What can you expect?

  • You implement AI use cases and innovations independently: With a constant inflow of new use cases from our plants, there are always exciting machine learning problems to solve.
  • You will work on and design all steps of the data science pipeline on your own responsibility: From data exploration, preparation, and preprocessing to model selection and AI training to evaluation of the model and presentation to stakeholders.
  • You will be at the forefront of our AI innovations: We are constantly testing and evaluating the use of new AI solutions such as current foundation models and multimodal generative AI models.
  • You will be supported by experienced data scientists and process experts.
  • You will gain experience with the practical and industrialized use of machine learning and gain insights into automotive engineering and its digitization and automation.
  • There are also often opportunities for a thesis following the internship.

What are you bringing with you?

  • Studying data science, computer science, business informatics, statistics or a comparable study program with a focus on data science/machine learning.
  • Safe use of Python and associated data science frameworks and libraries (e.g. Pandas, Jupyter Notebooks, Torch, Tensorflow, Keras, anomalib, ultralytics, scikit-learn, OpenCV).
  • (Some) experience with training AI models.
  • Basic methodological and theoretical knowledge in the fields of deep learning and data science.
  • Hands-on mentality and an independent, solution-oriented way of working.
  • Business fluency in German or English.

What do we offer?

  • Comprehensive mentoring & onboarding.
  • Personal & professional development.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Digital offers & mobile working.
  • Attractive remuneration.
  • Apartment offers for students (subject to availability & only Munich).
  • And many other benefits - see bmw.jobs/benefits
