SOME IT WORKS. SOME CHANGES WHAT'S POSSIBLE.

SHARE YOUR PASSION.

More than 90% of automotive innovations are based on electronics and software. That's why creative freedom and lateral thinking are so important in the pursuit of truly novel solutions. And that’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied Master Thesis on Generative AI in Multidisciplinary Design Optimization. In doing so, you are contributing to the fundamental change of the vehicle development processes with algorithms. The aim is to derive and implement methods to integrate generative artificial intelligence into a multidisciplinary design optimization framework. Furthermore, the efficiency, quality of solution and generalizability of the proposed methods should be analyzed across several benchmark problems from academia and industry.

What awaits you?

  • Be part of the digital transformation and support the virtualization of overall vehicle development.
  • Research existing methods for generating optimal designs using generative AI.
  • Derive and implement methods to harness the power of generative AI within multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Evaluate performance across several benchmark problems.
  • Become part of a dynamic team and gain insights into modern vehicle development.
  • Bring in your own ideas, gain valuable experience and get a foretaste of future vehicle projects.

Please note that your thesis must be supervised by a university on your part.

What should you bring along?

  • Ongoing master's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science or similar.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge in mathematical optimization and generative AI.
  • Practical experience in software development with Python.
  • Ideally knowledge in automotive development.
  • Very good English or German language skills.
  • Independent and structured way of working with a high level of self-motivation.
