Responsibilities:
Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects. Lead and guide the work of technical staff. Serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects. Plan project stages and assess business implications for each stage. Monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. Utilize construction domain, civil engineering, construction technology, and data analytics expertise and knowledge to lead and project manage the research and development efforts for Artificial Intelligence (AI) product initiatives in construction. Work directly with construction stakeholders, customers, and user researchers and conduct other industry research to uncover pain points, inefficiencies, and understand the most pressing construction industry needs. Write product specifications, requirements, and acceptance criteria. Select the necessary construction datasets for the product development to ensure that the training and validation datasets represent complex, real-world construction use cases. Collaborate with cross functional teams (i.e., data scientists, software engineers, civil engineers, user researchers, user experience designers, product managers) to analyze and experiment on construction problems that can be solved through data, automation, and analytics. Lead a group of construction subject matter experts who perform data labeling necessary to train models for the AI services. Validate if the products meet construction stakeholders' needs and expectations. Coordinate cross functional teams (i.e., data scientists, software engineers, civil engineers, user researchers, user experience designers, product managers) during the product development lifecycle to analyze, experiment, and ultimately deliver construction management software that leverages data, AI, Machine Learning and analytics to make construction processes more efficient and predictable. Must be available to work projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a civil engineering/construction-related occupation. Must be available to work projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.
Special Requirements:
Position requires at least 2 years of experience in each of the following skills:
Proficiency in major design, project management, and scheduling software systems used in construction, including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Primavera P6, and MS Project.
Knowledge of different construction means and methods, and construction management including cost control and schedule planning.
Ability to create and interpret different construction documents such as architectural and engineering technical drawings, specifications, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and design and construction issues.
Position requires at least 1 academic semester of graduate-level coursework or some experience in each of the following skills:
Ability to conduct customer, competitive, and scientific research to identify existing problems in the construction industry that can be solved through data, analytics, and automation. Ability to analyze, evaluate information, synthesize findings, and communicate with stakeholders.
Articulate construction industry problems identified through research into product specifications, outlining requirements, acceptance criteria, and roadmap for development.
Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies, cloud computing, and requirements for AI/ML software product development, including selection of suitable training and validation datasets and data labeling practices.
Understand and apply major construction industry standards and taxonomies such as Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), MasterFormat, and UniFormat.
Experience developing AI-based technology for construction management solutions.
Position also requires a peer-reviewed publication record in the field(s) of construction research or artificial intelligence in construction.

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $161,616 - $186,800/year. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
